Being a member of the Oregon Society of Clinical Social Workers is more important now than ever. OSCSW has been at the forefront of an issue that is only growing for us and our clients: Reimbursement rates for services provided by licensed clinical social workers and other behavioral health providers
Over the past year, OSCSW has worked with other Organizations to draw attention in Oregon to recent cuts in reimbursements by insurers and their impact on our practices and clients. We succeeded in getting the legislature to hold a hearing on this issue and crafted legislation that would have held insurance companies accountable for how they calculate reimbursement rates.
We are still fighting. The 2011 Legislature gives us a new opportunity to work with other provider groups to address this issue head-on. With that in mind, we recently surveyed our members to better understand - and help legislators better understand - how stagnant reimbursement and, worse yet, rate cuts have limited access and quality of care for those in need of our therapy. We hope you agree that being a member in the Oregon Society of Clinical Social Workers is more important than ever.
